How we work

Four things we care about more than the average startup.

Ship with conviction.

We pick boring technology when boring wins. We pick experimental when experimental matters. Neither choice is made by reflex or trend. If you have a strong opinion, bring it with data — and be willing to change it with better data.

Write it down.

Decisions live in shared docs, not in meetings. We're async-first. Meetings are short, agenda-driven, and optional to attend if the notes will capture what mattered. This isn't just a preference — it's how a small team with high standards stays coherent.

Learn the domain.

Everyone here learns compliance. Engineers learn what an SOC 2 Type II observation window actually is. GRC folks learn the product stack well enough to read pull requests. We don't draw hard lines between disciplines.

Lead architectural direction across Simpra. You'll shape how our control graph, evidence pipelines, AI retrieval layer, and multi-tenant foundation evolve from seed-stage to Series A scale.

What you'll do

  • Own architectural decisions across Laravel, Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL layers
  • Make the trade-offs between AI-native patterns and proven compliance software patterns
  • Establish engineering patterns the rest of the team adopts
  • Guide hiring decisions and interview engineering candidates with the founder
  • Keep the stack coherent as we add teams

Who you are

  • 10+ years shipping software, 3+ years in an architect or Staff+ role
  • Deep in at least two of: Laravel/PHP, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, LLM systems

Senior React Frontend Engineer
Full-time Remote Senior

Build the Simpra UI — risk matrices, control heat maps, evidence pipelines, questionnaire workspaces, and audit-ready dashboards. You'll work on interfaces that GRC teams use every day and auditors implicitly trust.

What you'll do

  • Own complex data visualization work (risk registers, control graphs, readiness scoring)
  • Build real-time dashboards that stay performant at scale
  • Collaborate closely with the Technical Architect and Product Designer

Senior Laravel Backend Engineer
Full-time Remote Senior

Build the Simpra API and data model — the control graph, evidence pipelines, integration system, and AI retrieval layer. The Laravel codebase is the backbone of the product.

What you'll do

  • Design and evolve our multi-tenant Laravel/PostgreSQL core
  • Build evidence integrations (AWS, GitHub, Okta, Azure — more coming)
  • Work with pgvector for semantic search over compliance knowledge bases
  • Own API design, queue architecture, and background job reliability
  • Partner with AI/ML and Frontend engineers on full-stack features

AI/ML Engineer

Own Simpra's LLM-powered features in production. You'll make sure they're fast, accurate, and constantly getting better — while staying honest about what AI can and can't do.

What you'll do

  • Build and evolve our RAG pipelines (pgvector + OpenAI embeddings + Claude inference)
  • Implement prompt engineering patterns, evaluation loops, and safety guardrails
  • Optimize latency and cost without sacrificing quality
  • Partner with the Data Scientist on experimentation and Backend engineers on integration
  • Contribute to our thinking on agents, tool use, and multi-step reasoning

Who you are

  • 4+ years in software engineering, 2+ focused on AI/ML systems in production
  • Deep familiarity with LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI), embeddings, and vector search
  • Strong Python plus at least one of: TypeScript, Go, Rust
  • You've shipped LLM features people depend on — not just demos

Security Engineer
Full-time Remote Senior

Keep the trust that lets our customers trust us. You'll own our security architecture, run our own SOC 2 and ISO 27001 programs, manage third-party risk, and be the face of security for enterprise buyers.

What you'll do

  • Shape Simpra's own security architecture and internal policies
  • Own our SOC 2 and ISO 27001 programs end-to-end

Build the intelligence layer — semantic search, questionnaire auto-drafting, risk scoring models, control effectiveness prediction. You'll shape how Simpra understands the space we operate in.

What you'll do

  • Design and evaluate RAG pipelines over structured and unstructured compliance content
  • Build evaluation harnesses for LLM features (tone consistency, factuality, hallucination)
  • Partner with the AI/ML engineer on production deployment
  • Explore new applications of AI to GRC — what else becomes possible?

Design for engineers and auditors. Our users range from CTOs who tab back to VS Code mid-call, to auditors who want exhaustive evidence trails. You'll design experiences that work for both without sanding off the edges of either.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end design for major product areas (questionnaires, risk, evidence)
  • Collaborate with engineering on feasibility and iteration
  • Evolve our design system alongside our frontend engineers

Close mid-market and enterprise deals. Typical ACV $50K–$250K, 4–8 week sales cycles, buyer is usually a CISO, VP Engineering, or compliance lead. This is a founding-AE role — you'll build the playbook as you run it.

What you'll do

  • Own a pipeline of qualified opportunities from first demo to signed deal
  • Run technical discovery and coordinate deep-dives with engineering
  • Work closely with the founder on late-stage deals in early days
  • Provide feedback to product on what's blocking or unblocking deals

Shape our product with real GRC expertise. You'll inform product decisions, review customer programs, and sometimes lead our Services engagements directly. This is a bridge role between auditor-speak and engineer-speak.

What you'll do

  • Work with Product on which workflows matter most and how auditors actually think
  • Review customer programs during onboarding and before audits
  • Lead some of our Services engagements (readiness, audit support, policy development)

Own Simpra's finance function end-to-end — from month-end close to board decks to the next fundraise. You'll partner directly with the founder on capital strategy, SaaS metrics, pricing, and financial operations as we scale from seed toward Series A.

What you'll do

  • Own all financial operations — month-end close, AR/AP, revenue recognition, reporting
  • Build and maintain financial models for internal planning and investor conversations
  • Partner with the founder on fundraising — capital strategy, data rooms, diligence
  • Define and track SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, gross margin, burn, runway)
  • Hire and build the finance team as we scale past the founding stage

Who you are

Build the planning and analytics muscle at Simpra. You'll own our forecast, our metrics dashboard, and the analysis that helps the team make better decisions about headcount, pricing, and investment.

  • Own the annual financial plan and rolling forecast
  • Build and maintain our SaaS metrics dashboard (ARR, NRR, LTV, payback, magic number)
